HauteLook.com

Remember me complaining about the wait time for purchases from HauteLook.com in this Blog ?

Well they arrived yesterday!!! Super excited to find out they came and they didn't take 2-1/2 weeks to get.
Packaging was cute with white and black tissue paper, a packing list, without the prices" Thankfully since my husband opened it first." ha ha And everything I ordered. I realize now that I should have taken pictures to show off the new goodies and success of my purchase through Haute Look, but I was too busy getting ready for a special event today and spending a little time with my BFF.

So toodles for now. I will review the NYX Jumbo eye pencils and Makeup Tool Belt in a new blog.

HauteLook.com

www.Hautelook.com

An exclusive members only sale web site for indie and couture brands. First off anyone can join, it isn't too exclusive. Each day/ week they introduce new vendors to the sale, and advertise with a daily email. Vendors range from Michael Kors, NYX Cosmetics, even destination vacations.

Prices are for sure lower than retail. I also checked on Ebay and prices are lower on HauteLook too, but not by much. Products will sell till stock is sold out which is very limited. The kicker is waiting for the product to get to you if you cheap on the shipping.

Here is the catch. I place my order for two items on 9/22. Their due date to me is 10/8! First you place your order. Then they place their order with the Mfg. then this item is shipped to their warehouse, sorted, repackaged, then shipped to the customer. And here I thought waiting for 5 days was brutal for my UD I <3>$16.80.

Standard shipping a little under $8. Not bad. So I am torn between price and speed. Which would you pick, great price or need right now speed?

Comment and subscribe.

Maybelling The Falsies Volum' Express

Maybelline The Falsies Volum’ Express
Waterproof, Very Black
$7.49 us .25 fl. Oz / 7.5 ml
Made in the USA
This mascara comes in a vibrant violet tube container with light blue metallic writing. Makes me think of an awesome eyeshadow color combo coming! The tube is a little on the lighter side but doesn’t feel cheap. The tube can be stored standing up or lying down. There is nothing really special about the packaging it does what it is meant to do… Dispense mascara, ha ha ha… The applicator wand is kind of unique. The bristles are in a half dome shape with 1/3 of the wand flat. The wand curves the length of the bristles to help add curl to your lashes. The wand it self has a flex point joint about an inch from the bristles allowing it to flex while applying the product. I usually don’t like the wand to bend so I can wiggle in between the eyelashes to get a good coat over every lash. I think the flex point joint is put there so that the proper pressure is applied to the lashes as to deposit the right amount of product. The opening in the tube I find is a little wider then I would like. The wand slips out with a considerable amount of product on it, which can make the application a little thicker then some might want.
Falsies formula goes on kind of thick, and can clump if you are not careful when applying the coats. The formula isn’t too think so that it feels like you have drapes hanging from your lashes. I have found that it is still a little sticky after it dries, so you may not be able to smudgeit while crying but the lashes can clump together. They do not dry too stiff but will stay curled all day! If you are used to wearing mascara this will not feel heavy. For people who do not wear mascara normally may feel it is a bit heavy on the lashes. (lighter then real false lashes!) Falsies have great color pigmentation, goes on smoothly, and with practice, evenly!
With a little practice and an eyelash separator Falsies is a great substitute for false lashes for the every day-girl who would like longer thicker lashes. Mabybelline I feel has made a great product that does what it claims for an affordable price. Colors include Blackest Black, Very Black, and Brownish Black.
My overall rating for Maybelline The Falsies Volum’ Express is
86%
Over all points: 43/50
Packaging: 6/6
Formula: 20/24
Value: 9/9

Here are the results!
Quick before and after.

The next two photos are nude with no curl. All natural.

Naked still but curled.

Thanks for reading and have a glorious day!!!

An Education

The other day I was looking up pictures of Emily Blunt. She played the redheaded meanie assistant in The Devil Wears Prada. I love Emily Blunt, but while looking up her pictures there was another girl named Carey Mulligan. They were on a discussion panel together for the Santa Barbara Film Festival. She caught my eye and I decided to look up some of her pictures. Most of the pictures were from a movie called An Education. Looked kind of interesting and made a small mental note to look up the movie at some point in time.

Well my dish got turned off this weekend and every one knows I LOVE TV. Ha ha no I didn't forget to pay my bill we are switching over to Verizon Fios and I really didn't feel like getting charged outrageous prices for my addiction. Although most will... In light of this my husband and I decided to take a trip to blockbuster. Well we bought a couple videos and in them was An Education. Oddly enough I stumbled across it while browsing the two fer $20 section.

After watching this movie I felt the 2-1/2 hours it ran was not long enough! The movie is set in Britain with a 16 year old girl attending an all girl private school with a strict dad expecting her to go to Oxford College. However she gets detoured by an new interest much older than her. It ends kind of surprisingly but throughout the movie you get to know this 16 year old Jenny, who has a cute face, bright personality and an interesting quirk about her. Definitely a must see movie.

MAC ~ Leopard Luxe

Leopard Luxe ($36.00 U.S. / $43.00 CDN)

Wild By Nature Midtone camel (M) (L.E.)
Notoriety Dirty brown with gold pearl (V) (L.E.)

Style Predator Frosted midtone yellow orange (V.P.) (L.E.)
Furiously Fabulous Frosted warm black (V.P.) (Limited Edition)

I was on the fence with this quad. I bought it because I figured that they are all limited edition colors and I don't think I have seen them before. I am happy I bought it. All of the colors are unique in their own right.

Wild By Nature is an odd color. It's almost the color of spicy brown mustard in a solid matte finish I am still trying to get this color to work into a look as it is a little dark to use as a highlighter color for my skin tone.

Notoriety makes me think of, if Brown Down and Mythology had a child. The gold flecks throughout is very light but reflects well in the light. Notoriety is a velvet finish.

Style Predator is a frosty dark peach color that reflects yellow. Super shimmery, and worked well as a very thin layer for a highlighter on my brow. Style Predator is a Veluxe Pearl. I get the pearl but still have no clue what "Veluxe" means.

Furiously Fabulous is a smooth warm black brown. Dark brown when thinly applied or a rich deep dark brown when layered. It is a veluxe pearl finish which gives it that not so matte yet not too frosty appearance.

Superslick Liquid Eye Liner ($17.50 U.S. / $21.00 CDN)
Marked for Beauty Midtone grey with soft pearl

I really like this formula. It goes on smooth and dries fairly quick. The felt tip applicator works great for me and the long handle helps with accuracy. It has so much dimension to it. With it's medium grey base and tons of pearl shimmer to it, depending on what you pair with it will determine the final look.

Pigment ($19.50 U.S. / $23.50 CDN)
Lithe Frosted warm nude with gold pearl (F) (L.E.)
Old Gold High-frosted tarnished gold (F) (P)

Lithe shimmery nude color. Almost doesn't show up on my skin cause it is so close to my skin tone. This color I can see going into my lotion as an all over body shimmer.

Old Gold I got before it came out in this collection. It is a dirty gold with a tarnished green shift to it. Very great color for the fall.

So that is it for the items I purchased from the Fabulous collection from MAC. Most of the items have not sold out, so if you like something go test it out at your MAC counter!

MAC ~ Palace Pedegreed

Palace Pedegreed ($36.00 U.S. / $43.00 CDN)

Prized
Frosty light dirty pink (S) (L.E.)
Palace Pedigreed Deep berry with pink pearl (S) (L.E.)

Quite Spoiled mauve w/ soft pink pearl (S) (L.E.)
Russian Blue dark blue base grey (M) (L.E.)

This quad is so pretty in and out of the package. All are limited edition colors and all have their own special quality. They are easy to swatch and play well with each other . Purples are well known to bring out the green in people's eyes. These do it effortlessly.

Courtly
is a beautiful light dirty pink. Great coverage with a frosty finish to it. Although it has a frost to it, it is a satin finish.

Palace Pedegreed is a pretty plumy color with a light pink pearl. It is such a deep color that you can pack it on easily so be careful when applying if you are trying to achieve that berry purple color. Palace Pedegreed is a satin finish.

Quite Spoiled really does go on like a satin as it's finish denotes. Limited edition this color is a must have. A nice pale purple with a soft pink pearl helps it fade into Palace Pedegreed.

Russian Blue is a very unique matte grey color. It is almost navy in color but more on the blackened side. This color compliments the Palace pedegreed when put underneath for a darker more edgy look.

Superslick Liquid Eye Liner ($17.50 U.S. / $21.00 CDN)

Smoky Heir purple w/ a silvery blue pearl (left)

This superslick liquid eyeliner is amazing! takes a few for it to dry but worth the wait. Once in dries is doesn't budge. No mirror image stamp on your of your eyelid any more!

MAC ~ Burmese Beauty

Burmese Beauty ($36.00 U.S. / $43.00 CDN)

Prized Pale Peach (S) (L.E.)
Burmese Beauty Frosty brown green (L) (L.E.)

Skintone 2 Dirty gold (F) (L.E.)
Showstopper Rich black brown w/ slight gold sheen (M) (L.E.)

This Quad is very pretty in the palette, but in application and versatility of the colors I don't know if I would recommend the quad, except only to get the Burmese Beauty.

Prized was very hard to swatch, I had to swipe it many, many times to get the color to show. Might be because it is very close to my skin tone. Prized is a satin finish.

Burmese is the color that prompted me t
o get this palette. I haven't seen anything like it, and it doesn't take much to layer it. I must say after applying it the brown base showed easily but the green was hardly visible. I layered it a bit more and the green came out but was still hard to see, but in the right lighting it glowed! Burmese is a lustre finish.

Skin Tone 2 was easy to swatch, so it was easy to layer and apply. The color has a brown base to the gold making it look like someone had their grubby little hands all over it at one point. Skin Tone 2 is a frost.

Showstopper is a dark brown black with a slight golden sheen to it. Probably one of the more versatile and usable colors. If you missed this pallet and must have this color I hear that this is the billionth time Showstopper has been promoted in a collection. It will come around again. Showstopper is a matte finish.

Lipstick ($14.50 U.S. / $17.50 CDN)
To Pamper
Peachy taupe (L) (L.E.)
Liquid Lurex Tarnished Gold base w/ Pearl micro glitter (D) (L.E.)

To Pamper goes on smooth, the texture reminds me of velvet. Kind of stick but not too sticky kind of slick but not too slick. The color gives my lips an almost nude lip look, just a touch cooler.

Liquid Lurex doesn't show well in pictures since it it made up of micro glitter. All glitter! I changed my mind on this item and purchased it after I tested it out at the MAC counter. I now really understand why you need to see things IRL to know it's true beauty. Since Liquid Lurex is made up of glitter there is quite a bit of fallout after a short time of wear, but it stays mainly on your lips for quite a while.

Pigment ($19.50 U.S. / $23.50 CDN)

Antique Green Forest green with green pearl (F) (L.E.)

Antique Green is a forest green that has a green based pearl to it. It has a frosty gold to it but not out of control. It was easy to layer, and was pretty dark with only one swipe.

Thanks for reading hope this was helpful.
